Orochi turns the world into a wasteland, and Amaterasu takes the form of a white wolf in order to fight Orochi’s followers. Amaterasu can feed the animals, bring the plants back to life, put the constellations back into the sky, and convince warriors to fight on the side of good. Players take the wolf through various puzzles, fight Orochi’s henchmen, and use a Japanese paint brush to access special abilities.
Review:
The art in Okami is amazing. This is the first time I ever wanted to play a game just so I could look at it. The entire game is made to look like traditional Japanese painting, so the paint brush tool is an even more interesting addition. Players use the brush to fight, to create, and to move Amaterasu around the screen. The voices can get a little annoying, but the cute characters make up for it. I know some people who love Okami more than I do, but I’d still recommend it. This is a good game for fans of adventure games, puzzle games, action games, Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus.
